Hey friend! I’m Emily – thanks for coming to hang out in my online home!

I believe that food is one of the most potent and underrated tools for vibrant health and a peaceful mind.

Let me introduce myself properly… I’m Emily Holmes and I am a Nutritionist. I work with amazing humans who are passionate about learning how to use food for abundant energy, clear skin and a peaceful mind. I help them reclaim their energy by fueling their body with the best quality wholefoods. I help them achieve clear skin because I believe what’s on the outside is a reflection of what’s happening inside. And most importantly, I help them live peacefully, free from anxiety and depression. Yes, your food affects your mood! Did you know that serotonin (the feel food hormone) is made in the gut?

So how did I get here? I’ve always thought I was a fairly healthy person and I love cooking. I grew up in a sugar-free household long before it was cool to quit sugar and I knew my body felt better after eating real food, rather than chips and cakes. I never really thought twice about my ‘healthy lifestyle’, it was just a way of life. It was how I was brought up.

However, somewhere along the way, I kind of lost myself. I got myself trapped in a vicious cycle of hating and hurting myself. I was living in the past and stressed about the future. I felt I had no control over my moods and I blamed everything and everyone but myself. I was deeply ashamed. My doctor taught me about using food as medicine. Imagine that! A GP prescribing nutrient rich food instead of a prescription. How lucky am !? This is at the top of my gratitude list every single day and I tell anyone who will listen!

Now I help other awesome people turn their life around. I truly believe that we all have abundant, happy and vibrant lives waiting for us. If you’re ready to step up and take control of your health and happiness then this blog is for you.

Want to get to know me some more (like properly, really get to know me)? Here are some random chunks of goodness (weirdness) about me:

I am terrified of birds but I admire them from afar.

I got married to my best friend on New Year’s Eve! You can read about my wedding here.

My favourite place is the beach but I’m scared of the waves!

My second favourite place is hiking up a mountain.

I love being in the kitchen and making desserts. My favourite dessert is my Cherry Ripe Slice.

I have an obsessive/addictive personality – once I get an idea in my head… it’s all I can think about.

I never get bored. There’s always an adventure to go on.

I run to burn off the crazy.

I like walking barefoot.

I’m addicted to peppermint tea.

Want to know what I believe in?

I believe that we’re all so used to our features that we don’t know how beautiful we look to a stranger.

I try to love myself as much as I want someone else to – it’s a work in progress.

I’m learning to breathe deeply, to really taste food when I eat and when I sleep, to really sleep. Basically I’m learning to be present in every moment.

I believe in miracles but I also believe that you create your own luck.

I am perfectly imperfect. A friend asked me the other day if I ever indulge. Of course I do! It’s so important not to restrict/punish yourself. Food and guilt do not belong together. Indulgences are healthy. The guilt surrounding indulgences is far more damaging to your body than enjoying a treat.

I don’t count calories – for many reasons. Most importantly, my food doesn’t come with labels so counting calories becomes completely unnecessary. Biomechanically, the body is far more complex than calories in and calories out.

Good health starts from the inside out. You can drink 10 green smoothies a day but if you’re constantly stressed or hating yourself, you will never be healthy.

My greatest fear is not being able to make a difference in this world.

Want to learn some cool stuff (that I’m pretty proud of!) about my biz:

I’ve appeared in Women’s Health and Fitness Magazine, Nature and Health Magazine and Body + Soul Magazine.

I was nominated for a Bupa Health Influencer Blog Award. I didn’t win but I was pretty stoked just to receive a nomination!

Since I stated writing for the Daily, my column has been featured in the Mackay Daily Mercury, Fraser Coast Chronicle, Rockhampton Morning Bulletin, Warwick Daily, South Burnett Times and the Gympie Times.

I also write for Mind Body Green – you can find my articles here.

I’ve been interviewed recently by Jessica Sepel (Nutritionist) and Kasey Willson (Naturopath). You can take a look at these interviews here and here.

Every few months I do my Conscious Cleanse – I practice what I preach and I love it when you all join me.

I wrote an ebook called Transform Your Life in 8 Weeks which you can grab for free here.

My most popular resource is my Custom Meal Plan, closely followed by my Conscious Meal Plan.

My biggest goal is to write and publish a book.
