Gallbladder Detox

Gluten Free Cereal

The gallbladder stores bile produced by the liver. It releases this bile through small ducts into the intestine to help digest fats. A healthy gallbladder results in optimal weight. Gallbladder detox is covered in detail (along with the other detox organs) within my Conscious Cleanse program (7 day meal with all recipes and a real food shopping list). Today I’m sharing my top gallbladder detoxification tips:

Fibre – found in wholegrains and leafy greens. Fibre is essential for gallbladder health as it binds to bile acid to help eliminate it.

Calcium – great sources of calcium include green leafy vegetables and greek yoghurt. Like fibre, calcium binds to bile acid to help eliminate it.

Magnesium – foods rich in magnesium include pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, cashews, lentils, oats, spinach and bananas. This macro-mineral binds to bile acid to assist with elimination.

Pectin – citrus and strawberries are great sources of pectin. Pectin is a gel-forming dietary fibre which binds with cholesterol to help eliminate it.

Vitamin C – a lack of Vitamin C has been linked to the development of gallstones. Load up on Vitamin C rich foods including capsicum, berries and citrus fruit.

Radishes – known to increase bile flow. The gallbladder stores bile until it is required by the liver to break down fats.

Water – aim to drink 2 litres of water each day. to ensure the proper amount of hydration in bile for effective flow.
